Cape Air and Silver Airways operate frequent inter-island service between STT and SJU, making this one of the busiest short-hop routes in the Caribbean.

Silver Airways operates the route as well on larger ATR turboprop equipment, offering a slightly more conventional experience with more baggage capacity. Both carriers serve the route multiple times daily. Locals use this connection constantly — for business, medical appointments, shopping runs, and onward connections from SJU to the wider American Airlines and JetBlue networks. It functions, effectively, as the inter-island commuter bus.
For travelers using SJU as a gateway, this connection is worth knowing. If mainland fares into San Juan are significantly cheaper than direct STT service — which is common — flying into SJU and hopping over on Cape Air or Silver is a legitimate and often scenic alternative. San Juan's airport is large and international; a 35-minute puddle jumper lands you somewhere completely different in every sense.
