Security at a Small Island Airport
Cyril E. King Airport is not a large airport — but don't let its size fool you into thinking security is always quick. On peak departure mornings, particularly during winter high season and holiday periods, STT security can back up significantly.
TSA PreCheck at STT
TSA PreCheck is available at STT. If you're a PreCheck member, use it — the dedicated lane moves considerably faster than the standard lane on busy mornings. Global Entry members also qualify for PreCheck and should have no issues using the benefit at STT.
How Early Should You Clear Security?

What to Have Ready
Standard TSA rules apply at STT: liquids in a quart-sized bag, laptops out of the bag, shoes off (unless PreCheck). One common delay: travelers returning from the islands with bottles of rum or hot sauce exceeding 3.4oz in carry-on bags. Check liquids before you pack or put them in checked luggage.
The Airport Layout After Security
STT is a single-terminal airport with a relatively compact gate area. Once through security, your gate is never far. There's a small selection of shops and a bar/restaurant post-security — arrive early enough to use them rather than rushing straight to your gate.
USVI-Specific Notes
Traveling from STT to a mainland US destination is a domestic US flight — no customs or immigration clearance required for US citizens and residents. However, CBP agriculture inspections do occur on some STT departure routes. Declare any plant materials, fruit, or soil — officers are thorough.
