Using Miami as a Connection Hub
Most USVI residents traveling to the mainland pass through MIA at some point. American's Miami hub connects to hundreds of domestic and international destinations. For connections, plan for at least 60–75 minutes — MIA is a large airport and Caribbean arrivals clear customs before connecting to domestic flights if you're re-entering the US (USVI passengers do not clear customs returning to the mainland, as USVI is a US territory).

If Miami is your final stop, STT–MIA is one of the best island-to-city routes in the Caribbean. South Beach, Wynwood, Little Havana, and the Design District are all accessible within 30 minutes of MIA. The food scene in Miami is world-class and pairs well with a USVI palate.
